You’re right that there are many distinctive landmarks in London, which is one of the reasons so many movies, TV series, computer games etc feature the city.
But for me the fact that the City of London (originally a Roman settlement) has grown to subsume so many of the surrounding towns and villages - which means there are so many areas with their own unique characteristics, has has created a very rich tapestry. It can take years to really get to really appreciate all these nuanced areas properly.
Furthermore the people of the city are oft underrated. This evening I was at a small local park in Sutton (The Warren) for the Solar Eclipse. It had a really friendly summer festival vibe with people sharing food and drinks from their picnics, as well as special glasses/colanders/homemade pinhole cameras, which felt very collaborative.
